06:00 · The marina before sunrise
Your driver-guide delivers you to the marina in the dark. Charters typically leave early because the sea is calmest and the fish feed hardest in the first hours of light. The skipper and deckhand are already rigging.
06:30 · Cast off and steam out
A short safety brief — life jackets, where to hold on — and then the run to the grounds, typically 30 to 45 minutes offshore. Watch the city shrink behind you. The skipper is reading the water the whole way out.
07:15 · Lines in
Trolling lures for kingfish and queenfish, or drifting baits over structure for cobia — the skipper picks the method to match the day. The rods sit in holders until they do not. Rotate turns so everyone in your group gets a strike.
08:30 · The quiet spells and the moves
Fishing is fishing: there are lulls. A good skipper does not sit in one — he follows the birds, the bait and the sounder to the next patch of life. The quiet is part of it, and the coffee tastes better offshore anyway.
09:00 · The fight
When a reel screams, the deckhand hands you the rod and coaches you through it: tip up, wind on the drop, let the drag do the arguing. A kingfish's first run is something you feel in your back teeth. Land it, photograph it, and let the adrenalin settle.
10:30 · The run home
Catch on ice, lines stowed, and a fast run back with the wind behind you. We have you back at the marina around five hours after departure, where the Carnival is waiting. Lunch will taste like victory either way.

Insider tips

Take the seasickness tablet at home, an hour before the boat — taking it aboard is too late to help.
Bring polarised sunglasses. You will spot working birds and bait on the surface before anyone else, and the glare off the Gulf is relentless.
When you hook up, keep the rod tip up and wind as you lower it. Slack line loses more fish than sharks do.
Wear soft-soled shoes with grip and leave the flip-flops in the car; the deck gets wet the moment things get interesting.
Watch for diving birds and point them out to the skipper. They are the oldest fish-finder in the Gulf, and they still outperform the electronics.

Questions, answered

I have never fished before. Does that matter?

Not in the slightest — the deckhand rigs, baits and casts, and coaches you through every fight. You do the enjoyable part. Complete beginners land serious fish on these grounds regularly.

What about seasickness?

Take a non-drowsy tablet about an hour before boarding, eat a light breakfast, and stay on deck watching the horizon rather than going below. Morning charters ride the calmest sea. If you are very prone, tell us and we will aim for the gentlest conditions available.

What happens to what we catch?

The skipper follows UAE fishing regulations — undersized and protected species go back, and healthy release is standard for some sportfish. Legal table fish can come home with you on ice. Ask us in advance about having your catch cooked at a suitable venue and we will see what can be arranged.

When is the best season?

The cooler months are typically prime time for kingfish and the pelagics, with hungry fish and kind weather. Summer still fishes, but the early start becomes essential and the sessions stay short. We will be honest about your dates when you book.

Can children come?

Yes, with an adult, and life jackets are aboard in small sizes. Five hours is a long time for small people, so bring snacks and let them share a rod rather than own one. A first fish tends to fix any boredom instantly.

Is there a toilet and shade on board?

Charter boats typically carry a marine toilet and shaded seating, but layouts vary from boat to boat. Tell us what matters to your group and we will confirm the specifics of your vessel when booking.

What happens after you book
