The other coast — Snoopy Island snorkelling, Al Bidyah mosque and the Indian Ocean. This is a fully private experience in Fujairah: your own vehicle, your own driver-guide, and an itinerary that flexes on the day.
One price covers the whole vehicle for up to 6 guests — bring the family and the price does not move. Allow about 11 hours. Hotel pickup and drop-off are included.
Distances in the Emirates are honest highway miles — your driver handles them while you watch the landscape switch from skyline to dune to mountain. Everything on board is set up for the long, easy day: chargers, cold water, and stops wherever the view earns one.
Practicalities, handled: your driver's WhatsApp arrives the evening before with the exact pickup time; the vehicle carries chilled water and chargers; timings flex on the day if a flight, a nap or a whim demands it. Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before travel, and you can pay on the day.

Your day, stop by stop
06:30 · Coast to coast
We leave early because this day crosses the entire country — Gulf side to Indian Ocean side in a morning. The Carnival makes short work of it, with a breakfast stop on the way. Somewhere past Masafi, the dunes are gone and you are in a corridor of bare mountains heading for the sea.
09:00 · The Friday Market that opens every day
At Masafi we stop at the roadside Friday Market, which — in the best UAE tradition — trades all week regardless of its name. Carpets hang three deep, pottery stacks on the verges, and the fruit is good. It is a twenty-minute stop unless you start haggling for a rug, in which case tell your guide to keep the engine running.
10:00 · Al Bidyah Mosque
This small mud-and-stone mosque is held to be among the oldest in the UAE, and it is still a working one — four domes, one room, centuries of continuous prayer. Visits are outside prayer times, with modest dress and headscarves for women; your guide carries spares. It takes fifteen minutes and stays with you longer than that.
11:00 · Snorkelling at Snoopy Island
The rock offshore does, in fairness, look like Snoopy lying on his kennel. Our partner operator at the beach provides masks, fins and lifejackets, and you swim straight off the sand over reef patches busy with fish. Turtles and rays are regulars here — sighted often, promised never.
13:30 · Lunch by the water
Lunch is at a relaxed venue near the beach, unhurried and salty-haired. The east coast runs at a slower pulse than the cities and the middle of the day is when you feel it. There is usually time for a final swim or an unapologetic doze afterwards.
15:00 · The corniche and home
We roll down Fujairah's corniche with a photo stop at the fort standing guard over the old date gardens, then point the car west. The mountain light on the return leg is the best of the day. You are typically back in Abu Dhabi around 17:30 to 18:00, faintly smelling of the sea.
Insider tips
- Bring reef shoes if you have them — parts of the entry are rocky and tender-footed guests notice.
- Pack your own prescription mask if you wear one; standard kit is provided but cannot correct your eyesight.
- At the Friday Market, the first carpet price is an opening argument, not a fact — counter at half and enjoy yourself.
- Travel Sunday to Thursday if you can; at weekends the east coast beaches fill with city escapees.
- A waterproof phone pouch earns its keep twice here — once in the water, once for the wet-handed photos afterwards.
Questions, answered
Do I need to be a strong swimmer to snorkel?
Confident in the water helps, but the reef starts in shallow water close to the beach and lifejackets are provided for anyone who wants the buoyancy. Weaker swimmers can paddle the inshore section and still see plenty. Non-swimmers get a fine beach morning; nobody is made to get in.
Will we definitely see turtles?
No honest operator promises wildlife, and we will not start. That said, the seagrass around Snoopy Island is proper turtle habitat and sightings are common, along with rays and shoals of reef fish. The reef delivers a good swim even on the days the celebrities stay home.
What is the sea like, and is there a best season?
The Gulf of Oman is clearer and livelier than the Gulf side, calmest in the mornings — which is why we snorkel before lunch. Winter water is fresh but very swimmable; summer water is bath-warm. On the rare rough day we call it honestly and swap in more beach and mountain time.
What should I wear for the mosque visit?
Modest dress for everyone — shoulders and knees covered — and a headscarf for women; loose cover-ups over swimwear will not do here, so bring a change. Your guide carries spare scarves. Non-Muslim visitors are welcome outside prayer times, and the visit is short, respectful and worth doing properly.
Is this day suitable for children?
Very — it is essentially a beach day with a road trip attached. Children snorkel in lifejackets in the shallow section, and the sand is the fallback that never fails. It is a long day though, roughly eleven hours door to door, so pack accordingly and expect them to sleep the whole way home.
What about food and drink through the day?
Breakfast is a road stop, lunch is by the beach, and the Carnival carries cold water all day. Tell us about dietary requirements when you book and we will pick venues to match. If you are wondering about a beer with lunch — only licensed venues in the UAE serve alcohol, so ask us to plan for a licensed option if it matters to you.
What happens after you book
You get a confirmation straight away, with the reference and everything included in writing.
The evening before, your driver messages you on WhatsApp with the exact pickup time and their name.
On the day they are early, the water is cold, and the plan bends to you. Pay then, or in advance — your call.
