Three islands, one boat, one afternoon — sandbanks, snorkel stops and skyline views. This is a fully private experience in Abu Dhabi: your own vehicle, your own driver-guide, and an itinerary that flexes on the day.
One price covers the whole vehicle for up to 6 guests — bring the family and the price does not move. Allow about 7 hours. Hotel pickup and drop-off are included.
The specialist activity on this experience is delivered by our licensed marine operator, working under their own permits and insurance, with a PNW Tourism driver-guide looking after you door to door.
The Gulf here is calm, shallow and improbably turquoise — closer to a lagoon than open sea on most days. Expect skyline views from the water, easy conditions, and gear handled for you end to end.
Practicalities, handled: your driver's WhatsApp arrives the evening before with the exact pickup time; the vehicle carries chilled water and chargers; timings flex on the day if a flight, a nap or a whim demands it. Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before travel, and you can pay on the day.

Your day, stop by stop
12:30 · Collected in the Carnival
Your driver-guide picks you up from your hotel in our Kia Carnival, cool box on board. Swimwear, a towel and sunscreen are all you need to remember. The run to the marina typically takes twenty to thirty minutes.
13:15 · Boarding and briefing
You meet the skipper from our licensed partner operator, who runs through lifejackets and the plan for the afternoon. The island order is set by wind and tide on the day, not by a brochure. That flexibility is the point of a private boat.
13:45 · Out past the skyline
The boat clears the breakwater and the city rearranges itself behind you. This is the first proper look at Abu Dhabi from the water, and it is worth turning around for. The skipper keeps a steady pace out to the first stop.
14:30 · The first sandbank
A pale bank of sand rises out of the Gulf, often with nobody else on it. You wade off the stern into clear, roughly waist-deep water. Children tend to need to be negotiated back onto the boat.
15:30 · The snorkel stop
Masks and fins come out over a patch of seagrass. Expect small fish and, if you are lucky, a ray gliding along the bottom. Anyone who prefers to stay dry can watch the whole thing from the deck.
17:00 · The last island, in the best light
The final stop is timed for the softening late-afternoon light. Swim, walk the shoreline or just sit with a cold drink while the skyline turns gold across the water. This is the stretch your camera is for.
18:15 · Back alongside
The boat comes back into the marina as the day cools off. The Carnival is waiting at the quay, and most guests doze on the drive back to the hotel. Sea air does that.
Insider tips
- Keep some camera battery for the run home — the golden-hour pass along the skyline is the best photograph of the day.
- Sandbanks live and die by the tide, so let the skipper reshuffle the order. The revised plan is always the better one.
- Sit aft for the smoothest ride and put the thrill-seekers on the bow.
- Bring polarised sunglasses. You will spot rays from the deck long before you spot them through a snorkel mask.
- You need no cash on board — the one thing worth adding to your bag is a dry pouch for your phone.
Questions, answered
Do I need to be a strong swimmer?
No. The sandbank stops are wading depth, and lifejackets and flotation aids are provided for the snorkel stop. You are also free to stay on board at any stop — nobody is made to get wet.
Is this suitable for children?
Very much so — the sandbanks are essentially a private beach day. Tell us ages when you book so our partner operator has the right lifejacket sizes ready. Babies and toddlers are best discussed with us first.
What should I bring?
Swimwear worn under light clothes, a towel, a hat and reef-safe sunscreen. The boat is a barefoot affair, so leave the good shoes at the hotel. A dry change of clothes for the ride home is a small luxury worth packing.
Is food included on board?
Water and light refreshments are typically carried, and fuller catering can be arranged when you book. If you have your heart set on a proper spread on a sandbank, say so in advance. We would rather over-plan than under-feed.
What happens if the sea is rough?
The skipper makes the call on the day. Usually the answer is a change of route to sheltered water in the lee of the islands rather than a cancellation. If conditions are genuinely unsafe, we reschedule — no drama.
Can we swim wherever we like?
Only at the stops the skipper chooses. Currents, boat traffic and protected zones rule out much of the rest, and the chosen spots are chosen for good reason. Within those stops, take all the time you want.
What happens after you book
You get a confirmation straight away, with the reference and everything included in writing.
The evening before, your driver messages you on WhatsApp with the exact pickup time and their name.
On the day they are early, the water is cold, and the plan bends to you. Pay then, or in advance — your call.
