09:00 · Collected while the water is calm
Your driver-guide picks you up in the Carnival, typically in the morning when the Gulf is at its flattest. Calm water means more speed and fewer bumps. The marina is a short drive.
09:30 · Briefing and lifejackets
The skipper from our licensed partner operator fits lifejackets, assigns seats and explains the hand signals. Anything loose goes in the dry box now. Two minutes of admin buys an hour of fun.
09:45 · Throttle open
The RIB clears the breakwater and the skipper opens it up — around forty knots, spray flying, skyline sliding past. It is loud, quick and grin-inducing. The skipper reads the water and adjusts speed to the conditions.
10:05 · A slow pass at the Louvre
The boat drops to idle beneath Jean Nouvel's dome — an angle you simply cannot get from land. This is the photo stop, so phones come out now, not at speed. The contrast after full throttle is half the pleasure.
10:20 · The islands loop
A fast loop around the near islands with the full skyline running along the horizon. The skipper mixes sprints with slow turns so everyone gets both the thrill and the view. Forty knots on flat water feels like flying.
10:45 · Back alongside
The RIB eases back into the marina roughly ninety minutes after you left the hotel kerb. Legs are slightly wobbly, hair is a write-off, everyone is smiling. The Carnival takes you back.

Insider tips

Sit at the stern for the softest ride. The bow is the fun seat and the bruised seat — choose knowingly.
Strap your sunglasses or pocket them at speed. The Gulf keeps whatever it catches.
Leave the hat in the Carnival. Anything loose becomes a donation to the sea.
Book the morning — the water is usually glassier and the light on the Louvre dome is better.
Do all your photography at the slow stops and simply hold on for the rest. Your camera roll and your grip will both thank you.

Questions, answered

How rough is the ride, honestly?

At speed you feel every ripple — that is the appeal. The skipper adjusts pace to the sea state and to the group, and the slow photo stops break it up. If you want the views without the thumps, our marina cruise is the gentler sister.

Who should not ride?

Pregnant guests and anyone with recent back or neck injuries or significant heart conditions should sit this one out — the impacts at speed are real. We say this plainly because we would rather lose a booking than cause an injury. The marina cruise covers the same water gently.

Is there a minimum age for children?

Our partner operator sets minimum age and height requirements for safety. Tell us ages when you book and we will confirm before you commit. Young children generally get more joy from the marina cruise or a sandbank day.

Will I get wet?

Expect light spray, especially in the bow seats; a soaking is rare on a calm morning. Wear things that can take salt and sun. The dry box keeps bags and phones safe regardless.

Can I bring my phone or camera?

Yes — stow it during the fast runs and shoot at the idle stops, which the skipper builds in for exactly this. A wrist strap or waterproof pouch is cheap insurance. Nothing photographs well at forty knots anyway.

What about the summer heat?

Morning slots and the wind of your own speed keep it surprisingly comfortable, and the trip is a tight ninety minutes rather than a long day. Bring water and sunglasses. The Gulf glare off the water is stronger than the sun itself.

What happens after you book
