Dubai collects records the way other cities collect statues, and this morning takes in the ones you can see from the street. The drive in is along Sheikh Zayed Road, a dozen lanes between walls of towers, to the Museum of the Future, a stainless-steel ring wrapped in Arabic calligraphy that is as striking outside as in. Then to Zabeel Park, where the Dubai Frame stands 150 metres tall with the old city on one side and the new on the other.
The last hour follows the Dubai Canal towards Downtown and ends at the foot of the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world, for the photograph that has to be taken standing directly below it. Entry to the museum, the Frame or the tower is not part of the tour, but your driver can time the morning around a ticket you already hold.
