A short morning drive to a quiet majlis and a full Emirati breakfast as the desert wakes. This is a fully private experience in Abu Dhabi: your own vehicle, your own driver-guide, and an itinerary that flexes on the day.

The desert works on its own clock: light that turns from white to gold in twenty minutes, dunes that change shape with the wind, and a silence you can hear. We time every departure around the light, not the schedule — and your driver knows which crest to stop on.

Practicalities, handled: your driver's WhatsApp arrives the evening before with the exact pickup time; the vehicle carries chilled water and chargers; timings flex on the day if a flight, a nap or a whim demands it. Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before travel, and you can pay on the day.

Your day, stop by stop

Around 07:00 · Out with the sunrise behind you
Pickup from your hotel while the city is still quiet. The drive out is short by desert standards, and the dunes are at their best — cool, low-lit, and empty. This is the desert's most forgiving hour, which is precisely why we chose it.
The last stretch on sand
The tarmac gives way to track for the final approach. A few minutes later you arrive at a majlis set among the dunes — the kind of spot you would drive past forever without knowing it was there.
A majlis laid for morning
Carpets, cushions, low tables and shade, with gahwa — Emirati coffee, pale and spiced with cardamom — poured before you have sat down. Breakfast here is unhurried by design. The only schedule is the kettle's.
The spread
A full Emirati breakfast, typically built around regag — paper-thin bread straight off the griddle — with balaleet, chebab pancakes and date syrup, eggs, fresh fruit and karak. Your guide talks you through what everything is and how locals eat it. Seconds are assumed.
The slow hour
Nothing is scheduled after the food, deliberately. Walk the nearest dune, refill the coffee, watch the desert warm up around you. Children treat the sand as the world's largest soft-play area, which it essentially is.
Around 11:00 · Home before the heat means it
The drive back to your hotel as the temperature starts to climb. You are returned in time for a swim, a nap, or an afternoon plan — fed in a way hotel buffets cannot match.

Insider tips

Skip the hotel breakfast. This sounds obvious; every month somebody doesn't.
Eat the regag the moment it comes off the griddle — it is a different food when hot, and it does not wait politely.
When you have had enough gahwa, tilt the little cup side to side as you hand it back. That is the signal; otherwise the refills are cheerfully endless.
Winter mornings can start surprisingly cool, so bring a light layer you can shed by nine.
Climb the nearest dune before you eat, not after. You will thank us on both counts.

Questions, answered

Can you cater for vegetarians and dietary requirements?

Easily — much of an Emirati breakfast is naturally vegetarian: breads, balaleet, eggs, dates, fruit. Tell us about allergies or specific requirements when you book and we will shape the spread around them.

Is this good for children?

It is possibly our most child-friendly desert tour. The hours are humane, the food includes reliable crowd-pleasers like sweet pancakes, and the dunes handle the entertainment before and after. Bring a change of clothes; sand gets everywhere and that is half the fun.

Is there a dress code?

No — wear whatever is comfortable. This is the desert, not the mosque, so there is nothing to observe beyond common sense. Most guests end up barefoot within the first ten minutes.

How hot will it be?

Mornings are the desert's mildest hours, and from autumn to spring they are genuinely pleasant — sometimes cool enough at the start for a light jumper. In summer we recommend the earliest start we can arrange, and the shaded majlis does the heavy lifting.

Is the experience private?

Yes — as with all our tours, it is your group only, from the hotel pickup to the majlis. No shared coaches, no strangers at your breakfast table, no queue for the coffee.

Do we need to bring anything?

Nothing beyond sunglasses and a camera. Food, drinks, shade and seating are all handled. This is designed to be the least demanding desert trip you will ever take.

What happens after you book

You get a confirmation straight away, with the reference and everything included in writing.
The evening before, your driver messages you on WhatsApp with the exact pickup time and their name.
On the day they are early, the water is cold, and the plan bends to you. Pay then, or in advance — your call.
