Boards, big slopes and as many runs as your legs allow — transport and kit included. This is a fully private experience in Abu Dhabi: your own vehicle, your own driver-guide, and an itinerary that flexes on the day.
One price covers the whole vehicle for up to 6 guests — bring the family and the price does not move. Allow about 3 hours. Hotel pickup and drop-off are included.
The desert works on its own clock: light that turns from white to gold in twenty minutes, dunes that change shape with the wind, and a silence you can hear. We time every departure around the light, not the schedule — and your driver knows which crest to stop on.
Practicalities, handled: your driver's WhatsApp arrives the evening before with the exact pickup time; the vehicle carries chilled water and chargers; timings flex on the day if a flight, a nap or a whim demands it. Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before travel, and you can pay on the day.

Your day, stop by stop
Pickup · Boards in the boot
Your driver-guide collects you from your hotel in our Kia Carnival, boards and kit already loaded. The drive out to the dunes takes around 45 minutes, and the briefing starts on the way. By the time you see sand, you know what an edge is.
On the sand · Kit and slope check
At the dunes your guide waxes the boards and fits your bindings. He also reads the day's sand — wind direction and moisture decide which face rides fastest, so the 'best slope' moves around.
First runs · Learning the lean
You start on a modest slope, seated or standing, whichever suits you. Sand is a forgiving teacher — falls are soft and nobody is watching except people about to fall themselves.
The big face · As many runs as your legs allow
Once you can hold a line, you graduate to the tall dunes. There are no lifts in the desert, so every run is earned with a climb back up. Most guests manage more runs than they predicted and fewer than they claimed.
Ridge break · Water and the view
A pause on the crest with cold water while the guide takes photos. The dune field runs to the horizon in every direction, which is a decent backdrop for looking athletic.
The drive back
Boards stowed, shoes emptied, and the Carnival's air conditioning doing its finest work. You're typically back at your hotel around three hours after pickup.
Insider tips
- Take the late-afternoon slot if you can — cooler sand underfoot and the low light makes every photo look professional.
- Do your first run seated to feel how the board edges into the sand. One clean standing run beats ten cartwheels.
- Empty your pockets before your first run. The dunes keep whatever falls out, permanently.
- Walk back up along the ridge line where the sand is firmer — climbing straight up the soft face costs double the effort.
- Ask your guide to film from halfway down the slope rather than the bottom. The angle makes the dune look as big as it felt.
Questions, answered
Do I need any boarding experience?
None. Most guests have never stood on a board before. Your guide starts you seated on a gentle slope and moves you up only when you're ready — and staying seated the whole session is a perfectly respectable choice.
How fit do I need to be?
Riding down is easy; walking back up soft sand is the workout. You set your own pace and there's no minimum number of runs. If you can climb a few flights of stairs, you'll cope.
Can children join?
Yes — this is one of our most family-friendly desert sessions. The guide matches slope size to the rider, so young children get small, safe faces while teenagers get talked down from the biggest one. Tell us ages when booking.
What should I wear?
Sportswear you don't mind filling with sand, plus sunglasses and sunscreen. Old trainers or bare feet both work on the dunes. Long sleeves are wise for sun cover in the middle of the day.
When does it run, and is it hot?
Sessions typically run early morning or late afternoon, when the sand is cooler and the light is better. In the peak of summer we keep to those edges of the day and carry plenty of water.
Will my phone survive?
Sand finds its way into everything, so keep your phone in a zipped pocket or a resealable bag between shots. Your guide is happy to take photos and videos of your runs, which is safer and gives you better angles anyway.
What happens after you book
You get a confirmation straight away, with the reference and everything included in writing.
The evening before, your driver messages you on WhatsApp with the exact pickup time and their name.
On the day they are early, the water is cold, and the plan bends to you. Pay then, or in advance — your call.
